Pitchfork named it <a href=\"http:\/\/pitchfork.com\/features\/staff-lists\/5844-top-20-albums-of-2001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the best album of the year<\/a>. In this episode, Phil recounts how he created the first song on the record at <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.krecs.com\/pages\/dub-narcotic-studio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dub Narcotic Studio<\/a>. He spoke with me from his home in Anacortes, Washington, about his love of being alone in the studio, evoking nature through music, and where the name The Microphones comes from.
