It hit #1 on the Alternative charts, and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Song. It gets played in stadiums, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YWagEpqUeRo\">Weird Al covered it<\/a>, and it\u2019s the last song of the night in countless bars.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dan_Wilson_(musician)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dan Wilson<\/a>, the lead singer and songwriter of Semisonic, has become a powerhouse songwriter who has written or co-written for artists like <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Legend\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Legend<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Taylor_Swift\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taylor Swift<\/a>. And he\u2019s won Grammys for his songwriting with the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dixie_Chicks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dixie Chicks<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Adele\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adele<\/a>. But over two decades ago, Dan and his bandmates John Munson and Jacob Slichter were in Minneapolis, getting ready to start work on their second album, <em>Feeling Strangely Fine<\/em>.
